Roderick Harvey

Roderick Harvey is a South Florida native who served honorably in the U.S. Navy. Roderick matriculated through two top Universities. Roderick has over 18 years experience in management and accounting, having served in several capacities including Managing Member of Harvey, Covington & Thomas. Roderick founded Harvey, Branker & Associates in February of 2000. Prior to the inception of Harvey, Covington and Thomas Roderick worked for one of the “Big 4” firms, specializing in the Governmental, Manufacturing, Retail, and Distribution sectors. While at the Big 4 accounting firm, Roderick advanced from an Assistant Accountant to Supervising Senior Accountant. He was in charge of large for profit and not-for-profit corporations handling millions in federal, state, local funded contracts.

Roderick has conducted many seminars for College Business Courses at Florida Atlantic University. He has served on several Municipal Boards throughout South Florida and has been the Treasurer for a number of not-for- profit organizations.

Roderick is the founder of Harvey, Covington & Thomas, LLC (2000). He serves as the Managing Member and primary contact for the firm’s audit and consulting division, which includes: government, non-profit, and private clients. Roderick’s responsibilities include but not limited to: obtaining and presenting proposals for new clients, pricing for all contracts, providing additional services, negotiating professional fees, hiring, monitoring and evaluating all staff members and reviewing workpapers and other documents prepared by staff members.

Assurance, Senior Accountant

Primary responsibilities include auditing and reviewing engagements for manufacturing, retail, distribution, and financial service clients. Roderick increased the profitability of several engagements by reducing the number of hours needed to complete the audits, evaluated and documented internal controls present in client’s accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, inventory and other operating cycles, and made proactive recommendations to improve internal controls.

Roderick participated in the planning of audits, performance of critical audit areas, and creation of financial statement and other reports for various manufacturing, retail, and distribution clients. Roderick assumed accountant in-charge responsibilities on audit engagements, which included the School Board of Broward County.

Roderick Harvey is the managing partner for the full service accounting firm, Harvey, Covington & Thomas, L.L.C (HCT). Roderick began his Firm over 17 years ago and today has three operating firms located in South Florida, Orlando and Tampa, Florida. HCT has a Satellite office housed in West Palm Beach and Daytona, Florida as well.

Roderick passed all four parts of the May 1996 CPA exam in one sitting. He was awarded the Texas Sord Award for his excellence in Accounting, the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management Fellowship from 1995-1996.

Roderick is a member of the Florida Institute of CPA’s (FICPA), the American Institute of CPA’s, the National Association of Black Accountants and the AICPA. He serves as Treasurer for the BAC Funding Corporation.

Roderick received his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting Degree from Florida State University and was awarded a Master in Professional Accounting degree in 1996 from The University of Texas at Austin, which is the nation’s number one accounting program.
