Please allow me to introduce myself or reintroduce myself to you. I am Milton Jones and for the last six years, I have been Treasurer of the 100 Black Men of America. With your help, I hope to be re-elected and to use my financial analysis, accounting, and Banking talents to continue to serve you and work with you to build better futures and pathways for our youth and their families.
Challenges We Face and Solutions I Bring for our future:
- We are already in difficult economic times for our communities, chapters, and members. As we all face these challenges, stability, and experience in the Treasurer’s position is critical to our overall sustainability. I bring financial experience and maturity.
- We have more opportunities to help sustain financial skills at the chapter level and I have done this well in the past and willing to do more in the future. I bring financial acumen.
- We are doing well with our Investment Portfolio and have weathered many storms thanks to our investment policy, committee and capabilities. I bring informed leadership of our Investment Committee.•
- We are beginning to gain momentum in building on our blueprint for Economic Empowerment. I bring capability and willingness to lead our economic empowerment pillar efforts.
- All of our audits during my tenure have had clean, unmodified opinions. I bring a commitment to strong internal controls and quality.
- I am qualified to continue as your Treasurer, eager to serve, and willing to work with you to make sure we can deliver on the promises we make to our youth!
Career and 100 Black Men of America and Career Highlights: Here are some highlights about me beyond the biography that you have hopefully already seen.
Highlights as Treasurer of 100 Black Men of America:
- Was elected Treasurer of 100 Black Men of America in 2014 and again in 2017.
- Worked with Chairman Dossman to improve the strength of our cash reserves from a very low level to more than $1.4 million under Chairman Dortch so that we can remain sustainable and support our chapters and the youth that we serve.
- Coached chapters and delivered training workshops on financial management, budgeting, audit issues, and Form 990 preparation.
- Streamlined the HQ financial reporting and invoicing process to maintain control but also improve efficiency.
- Helped streamline and produce cost-savings and revenue efficiency for activations of sponsor restricted funds related to National Conference, Winter meetings, and other key events.
- During my tenure, we have had clean audits (Non-modified Opinions).
- Started a process this fiscal year to create monthly reports for the first time in our relevant history. This will help our staff and leadership know more about where we stand financially.
- Helped 100 Black Men of America secure $227,000 in PPP funding and provided coaching to chapters and members so they could apply successfully.
- Built an investment committee and worked with them to develop an investment policy and move from earning 0.10% on our funds to more than 3.5% in the past 12 months despite the pandemic’s impact on the Stock Market.
- Chaired the Economic Empowerment Pillar and working to increase its impact and benefit to our members, mentees, and communities.
- Received the Knight Leadership Award in 2019

100 Black Men Highlights:
- Joined 100 Black Men of Atlanta Chapter in January 1997 and became active in helping to raise money by working on the Atlanta Football Classic• From 2003 to 2008, chaired the classic and raised NET proceeds as high as $750,000 and as low as $400,000.• Helped create a strong treasury which helped numerous students attend college
- Helped the Atlanta Chapter build very strong sponsor relationships that later grew to help chapters nationwide
- Became President of the Atlanta Chapter in 2008 and continued to drive growth in students served via Project Success, created one of the first Black Robotics teams in the country (Thanks to Dr. Lonnie Johnson’s committed volunteer leadership), and helped other chapters in Georgia create robotics teams.
Career Highlights:
- Designated as a Notre Dame Scholar (top 5% of freshman class) and graduated with a BBA in Accounting in 1974
- Three years at Peat Marwick Mitchell ( now KPMG) rising to Senior Accountant during that period.
- Rose from Assistant Accounting Officer to Executive Vice President at C&S (now Bank of America) from1977 to 1989. First African American on the C&S Georgia Management Committee in 1989
- CFO of the General Bank of NationsBank (2/3 of the company), then CFO of Technology and Operations dealing with huge contract negotiations and structuring very large technology transactions with CISCO, IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, and many others. Also created the technology cost allocation process.
- President of Dealer Finance for NationsBank, second largest Non-Captive provider of auto retail and floorplan financing in America. Restructured the business from an inherited loss to a strong profit.
- Technology Infrastructure Executive for NationsBank and the Bank of America worldwide, in charge of telecommunications networks, data centers, desktop placement and support, Information Security, and other core information elements worldwide.
- President of all Banking in Georgia and Tennessee for Bank of America. Led a $12 Billion bank with 7,500people from sixth place to second place in the company in 18 months.
- Reported directly to the CEO (first and only in history) and led the Lean Six Sigma program for Bank of America. Produced over $1 billion in value (Increased revenue and/or reduced expenses) for three years in a row. Also became a certified Six Sigma Black Belt
- Led all of Bank of America’s Supply Chain Management organization and increased spend with women and minority businesses from 11% to 16% of spend in the first year and maintained it at 16% the next year
- With three other African Americans, raised $500 million in committed investor funds on Wall Street to found CertusBank. Grew this bank from $0 to more than $2 billion in assets under management. Bought10 companies in three years.
- With two of those same three people, founded Peachtree Providence Partners, a holding company with subsidiaries ha specialize in Commercial Insurance, Consulting, and Fund Development. Gentleman, I am qualified to continue as your Treasurer, eager to serve and willing to work with you to make sure we can deliver on the promises we make to our youth to help make sure that the good they see, they will be. About Milton H. Jones, Jr.
Milton Jones is a founding member of Peachtree Providence Partners Holding Company, LLC. As former Georgia Market President, Mr. Jones was the ranking executive publicly to customers and communities for an institution with more than $12 Billion in retail deposits, 155 Branches and 7,000 associates. Previously Mr. Jones was the Global Finance Services Group and Supply Chain Management Executive; Global Quality and Productivity Executive, reporting directly to the CEO; President of the Mid-South Region which had more than $15 Billion in deposits and $10 Billion in loans; Technology Infrastructure Executive and; President of Dealer Financial services.
Mr. Jones chairs The Board of The Atlanta Business League, is Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn., is Treasurer and a Board member of the 100 Black Men of America, is Budget and Finance Committee Chair and member of the United Negro College Fund Board, and serves on the Boards of the Metro Atlanta YMCA, the Piedmont Hospital Foundation and the Commerce Club. He is also a member of the Downtown Atlanta Rotary Club and is a member and past Chairman of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta. Mr. Jones is also an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame (BBA-Accounting) Leadership Atlanta (’90) and Leadership Georgia (’92).
